The Region of Waterloo funds agencies to provide support to people who need assistance to live independently.

  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Laundry

Who is eligible?

You may qualify for this program if you:

  • Live in Waterloo Region
  • Meet the financial criteria (low income/social support)
  • Have significant functional impairments that affect your ability to complete homemaking tasks
  • Need help at home due to illness, recovery from injury, aging, or disability

How to apply

Applications for the Homemaking Support Services Program (HSSP) are managed through Caredove. To apply or be added to the waitlist, please Apply on Caredove here

  • If you experience any issues, select “I'm signing up for myself, a family member or a friend” without requiring login credentials.
  • Please note: The waitlist is currently approximately 2–3 years, except under special circumstances.

Crisis Cleans

Crisis cleans may be considered when there is a serious and immediate threat to a household’s safety and/or housing stability (e.g., severe unsanitary conditions, infestation, or hoarding).

Important Information

  • Once you reach the top of the waitlist, full disclosure of financial and health information is required to confirm eligibility.
  • This program is fully funded through the Ministry of Health and the Region of Waterloo.
