Public Health’s neighbourhood nursing programs meet residents in their own communities. These programs help reduce barriers to health support and community services.

Public Health neighbourhood bus

The neighbourhood bus provides residents with easy access to vaccines, close to home. The bus is available from the spring through the fall. See a schedule of upcoming locations below.

Public Health neighbourhood nursing

Public Health neighbourhood nurses can help you with your health care needs and connect you to community supports, especially if you face barriers to care.

Neighbourhood nurses offer access to public health services including:

  • Vaccines
  • Sexual health
  • Harm reduction
  • Mental health
  • Prenatal health
  • Breastfeeding
  • Childhood development
  • Dental health

Where to find Public Health neighbourhood nurses

Regular drop-in times are offered at different locations throughout Waterloo Region. Check with your local community center or contact Public Health neighbourhood nursing directly for a list of current times and locations.

Community organizations can also request neighbourhood nursing services. Email phnnt@regionofwaterloo.ca or call 519-575-4400 ext. 5897 for more information. 

 


Public Health Peer Program

Public Health partners with local community organizations to train and support peer health workers. Peer health workers organize and run programs that address their communities’ specific needs, promote health and well-being, share resources and help with social connection.

15 community organizations offer Peer Programs in Waterloo Region. Contact each organization directly to learn more about what their Peer Program offers.

The current Peer Program funding cycle runs until December 2026. Applications for the next funding cycle will open in summer 2026.
