The Region of Waterloo is improving Trussler Road from Bleams Road to just south of the Highway 7/8 interchange in Kitchener and Wilmot. The Regional Transportation Master Plan has identified this road as needing to be widened with active transportation facilities. This project is in the early stages of a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is undertaking the planning and design of the Trussler and Highway 7/8 interchange upgrades.

Environmental assessment: 2023–2026
Design and planning: 2026–2027
Construction: 2028

Public engagement

From May 11 to June 10, 2026, residents and stakeholders were invited to learn more about the project and proposed design concepts. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. All comments will be compiled and included in the staff report.
