Kindergarten healthy start checklist
Eye exams
- Your child may qualify for free eyeglasses through the Eye See…Eye Learn Program. This is offered through participating eye doctors for all junior and senior kindergarten children.
- Eye exams are free every year under OHIP for children ages 0-19. Learn more on our eye health page.
Dental exams
- Yearly dental check-ups will keep your child’s teeth and gums healthy. These check-ups can catch problems early and prevent pain or infection.
- Your child may qualify for free dental care. Learn about the available programs on our dental page.
Build healthy habits
- Check your child’s development with the Looksee Checklist. Call Public Health at 519-575-4400 for a free copy.
- Support learning with healthy eating. The Nutri-eStep survey can help you see if your child’s eating habits are on track.
- Keep your home and car smoke-free. Learn about the risks of second-hand smoke.
